04 Nov 2007 -- Deportivo clinched an important win at Murcia, and it was thanks to its most solid duo during the last matchdays: Xisco and Guardado. Together both youngsters have scored five of the last six goals conquered by Deportivo. It wasn't a good match for Depor, but the Galicians knew how to define the things in two deadly counterattacks.
BEFORE THE GAME
Coach Lotina decided to give a new chance to Xisco after the young striker was rested for the game against Mallorca. But the surprise was to see both Juan Rodríguez and Angel Lafita sited the bench, the Basque trainer preferred to give a new chance to Cristian, who repeated his role as right winger compared to the game against Mallorca.
In Murcia, coach Lucas Alcaraz preferred to play with Mejía in the centre of the defence leaving Juan Ochoa on the bench. also, Iñigo Velez replaced Iván Alonso on the attacking zone, his partners in that particular zone were Fernando Baiano, Mario Regueiro and ex-Depor player Francisco Gallardo.

Murcia took the initiative once again during the start of the second part, the local team was near to score when Alvaro Mejía headed out a free-kick taken by Pablo García (50'). But it was Deportivo who scored the first goal five minutes later.
De Guzmán regained a ball in the defensive line of Depor, he passed the ball to Joan Verdú who was standing in midfield, quickly the Catalan made a pass to Xisco who was waiting on the left wing, he beat the offside trap and ran 40 meters to face Notario, then Xisco sent a powerful shot that entered in the upper right corner to give the advantage to Deportivo.
And Murcia was near to equalise the things three minutes later, a rebound between Coloccini and Guardado left Fernando Baiano alone against Aoaute, the Brazilian lifted the ball over the head of the Israeli keeper, but Piscu was in the goal line in order to head the ball out.
That's when the game turned to be fast and exciting, the opposite image that was saw during the first half, at the 60th minute, Xisco had an identical chance to score after an exact pass from Guardado, but this time the Mallorcan striker tried to drill the ball and Notario made the save. Lucas Alcaraz tried to refresh his team and that's why he introduced Abel Gómez and Jofre for Pablo García and Marañon. Meanwhile, Lotina replaced Xisco with Bodipo.
And it was the Guinean striker who had the next chance to score (69'). a combination between Verdú and Bodipo ended with this last one running 30 meters, when he entered to the penalty zone, the ex-Alaves striker sent a cross that defeated Notario but it passed inched away from the right post and Depor lost a clear chance to score the second goal.
Murcia continued pushing forward, but they were unable to surpass Depor's defence, a sector that was focused in the actions. Depor was just locked in its zone waiting to define the game during a deadly counterattack and that was what exactly happen. Verdú delayed the ball to Aouate and the Israeli goalie cleared the ball to the right sector with an stunning precision, Andrés Guardado was there and ran 40 meters with the ball, just like Xisco did in the first goal, later the Mexican entered to the penalty zone and defeated Notario with a low shot that entered in the lower left corner.
The goal was the end for Murcia since they didn't have any other chance to score, while Depor even had the opportunity to score a third goal, but De Guzman hit the left post after Verdu sent a precise cross from the left.
