David Rochela talked to Riazor.org and analysed the coming season and what he
expects from his first pre-season at Deportivo’s squad. He promises to work hard
and fight for one of the twenty-five spots at the first team.

Q: First to all, congratulations on the promotion of Fabril and also for the debut
at Primera División. It was a very complete year.
A: Thank you, the truth is that it was a very complete year and I can’t ask for
anything more.

Q: In addition, Lotina told to Riazor.org that he was counting with you for next
year. Do you trust in having a spot at the first team or do you think you will stay
at the B squad?
A: I still don’t know. From what I can read it seems I will stay up there, and what
they told me is that I'll start at the first team, so I must fight and work as anyone
else so I can be at the first team.

Q: Many already see you as our great central defender for many years and the
future captain of Deportivo.
A: Hopefully they will be right and I can be like that. What happens is that things
are like this; I'm still a kid that still has to learn and improve.

Q: It might be the case that you would leave outside the team to an international
player like Ze Castro, someone that was left out of the World Cup just for the
recovery of Pepe.
A: There’s a moment in football in which this turns to be a competition. For me
Ze Castro is great, because I think he’s a player who has very good characteristics
for football; he’s very plastic and has a lot of quality. Anyway, everyone looks for
himself, and what everybody wants is to play.

Q: With you at the team, there are five central defenders, could you explain, from
your point of view and briefly, the features of the other central defenders at the
team?
A: Alberto Lopo: I think that Lopo is like the chief. It is the one that gives the orders
and also the central defender with more time at the squad, and that's always a plus.
It takes many years of playing at Primera.

Diego Colotto: Colotto is very smart. His physical characteristics aren’t so
surprising, but he knows how to exploit them. He is very intelligent and is well
placed in the aerial game, so I think he’s an awesome central defender.

Adrian: Adrian Lopez is a great marker, a player who always sticks to the striker and
who doesn’t give any concession. I think he’s very good too.

Q: Now that we are on that, define yourself.
A: That is more complicated. I try to be a fair player, I'm not hitting many kicks;
I'm aggressive when it comes to be, but not violent, that’s a difference. I try to
play the ball the most of the time and I don’t look like long balls, rather I prefer
to start playing from behind.

Q: What do you think of the World Cup made by your mate Andres Guardado
with Mexico?
A: For me in particular, of the games I could watch, it was one of the teams
that I liked the most. There was the controversy of whether he should have
played more or less, but I don’t want to talk about it. I think they made a very
good World Cup. I think they were very good and the pity was to cross the way
of Argentina, which is a very strong team.

Q: We already have three official signings for next season: Desmarets, Michel
and Urreta, do you have any reference of them?
A: To tell you the truth, I don’t know much. Perhaps the one that I know the
most is Michel, this since he was at Valencia, but in reality I can’t say anything
about them.

Q: You have been picked for July 8 (the start of the pre-season), Are you sad
for ending the vacations or eager to start again?
A: No, I am willing to start all over again. Apart is an important step, an important
year, especially I want things to be fine. We must fight and work hard for a spot and,
above all, we must enjoy it.
